If you have been keeping up with entertainment news lately, you know that there were two different productions of Romeo and Juliet coming on the West End and Broadway this year. I know there are a lot of haters out there who think Romeo and Juliet is massively overdone and that there's no reason to have another revival so soon, but I don't care. Orlando Bloom did it ten years ago and slayed, and now I'm ready to see Tom Holland and Kit Connor do it now and slay just as hard. No matter what naysayers say, it's the most popular Shakespeare play for a reason, and I'm glad that these productions might introduce younger audiences to Shakespeare outside of the classroom and on the big stage. I'm literally seeing the Broadway version with Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler today, and if my seat doesn't have a good view of the iconic pull-up that was unceremoniously cut from the original version at the Globe Theater in London, I'm going to absolutely lose it. If you wish that these Gen Z stars were doing The Merry Wives of Windsor instead, you might be the target audience for these Shakespeare memes.
