With all these different languages to code with and all the different ways that they can be applied, it is inevitable that there is a lot of snobbery, infighting, and discord among programmers. Perhaps it is simply too oversimplistic to plead that everybody just tries to get along and use their skills as best they can to make our computers work, but it is a nice thought to carry through with the hopes of the new year.
One downside, of course, is that we wouldn't get half as many programming memes as we do, although knowing most programmers, they would still find plenty of reasons to complain in a humorous manner that translates well on the internet. While at the end of the day, the whole thing can be boiled down to a series of ones and zeros, the jokes that rise out of that far transcend their humble origins.
